HISTORY

Cole Hersee has been manufacturing quality electrical and electronic switches and connectors for the vehicle industry since 1924. Whether you require a product custom designed and manufactured for a specific application or a standard product shipped directly from our finished goods warehouse, Cole Hersee will supply the product you need to meet your requirements.

We are a vertically-integrated, ISO 9001 certified manufacturing facility using state-of-the-art equipment to manufacture products from start to finish. We currently employ over 350 people from Boston and the surrounding area. From the beginning Cole Hersee has never lost its focus on the OEM and vehicle after markets, continually investing in new ways to deliver quality products to our customers.

Cole Hersee engineers understand the best methods of manufacturing quality products, and they work closely with production , from design to manufacture. Cole Hersee toggle switches can be used in any low voltage application. Their robust design allows them to fit the most rigorous uses. Cases are mad of Zinc die cast or plastic and the actuators come in a wide variety of styles and shapes. Terminal come in screw or blade configurations matched to the application . Conservative rating of Cole Hersee toggles rang from 20 to 30 amps at 12 volts D.C.

Rocker switches, manufactured in many different configurations, can be either snap-in or bracket mounted. Actuators can be illumined or imprinted, contain pilot lights or have both pilot lights and imprinting. Accessories include rocker switches brackets for in-dash mounting and a mounting kit for under dash applications.

Cole Hersee connectors include a broad selection of high-quality sockets, plugs, and connector accessories. Heavy duty plugs and sockets are available in 13, 7, 6, and 4 pole configurations. Our 13 pole socket, for example, surpasses SAE J5606 performance standards, while providing interchangeability between 13 and 7 pole plugs. Other connector products feature spring-grip electrical contacts and “Spring-Clip” quick release plug interiors. Single pole connectors are used in power takeoff applications. Lighter duty connectors, ranging from one to five poles, are ideal for marine and light trailer applications. Accessories include Stor-A-Way plug holder, boots and cable protectors.

HEADLAMP AND STOPLAMP

Headlamps dimmer switches can be mounted through-floorboard, on-floor board, on the steering column, or panel mounted. They control both high and low beams as well as park, tail, dash, hazard warning and work light functions. Headlamp switches come in a variety of designs including push-pull, rotary and foot-actuated. A panel mounted combination dimmer and headlamp switch is available for handicapped or delivery vans requiring stand-up operation. Housings are rugged corrosion-resistant die cast metal

Stop lamp switch choices include: mechanically or hydraulically operated or lever actuated.

IGNITION SWITCHES

Cole Hersee batter ignition and magneto switches are available with two, three and four position circuity and can be used for energizing any appropriate low voltage application. They are actuated by a coded key and tumbler lock, patented Hencol Keyed lock, Delco keyed lock or a lever. The lever design is offered in military, short lever or long lever configurations. Replacement switches for OEM applications are available.

MOMENTARY / DOOR

Momentary switches are designed for heavy duty use, with silver contacts available for extra heavy duty application to 36 volts, DC. Options include: weatherproof boots, terminal variations, actuator types, mounting and case materials to meet most application requirements. A wide variety of designs are available to fit any application. Cole Hersee momentary switches are found everywhere, from class 8 trucks and forklifts to crosswalk controls and bowling alley pin reset systems.

NEUTRAL SAFETY AND BACK-UP SWITCHES

A broad range of mechanical or vacuum-operated neutral safety and momentary back-up switches are available. They can be mounted in the engine compartment, under the dash, or because of their compact design, mounted where space is limited. Back-up switches, which energize both lights and alarms, are also available for applications up to 36 volts.

ELECTRONIC DIMMER AND RHEOSTAT SWITCHES

Electronic dimmer and rheostat switches for variable intensity control of panel and interior vehicle lights, or variable speed control of small motors. Available in 4, 6, 7 amp models for the use of 12V D.C. negative ground systems. Cole Hersee’s advanced circuit design allows for cooler operation, and the intensity settings are not load sensitive. In addition, the electronic components are protected against damage do to reverse polarity, field decay and other adverse electrical conditions.

WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCHES

Cole Hersee offers the broadest range of windshield wiper switches in the industry. This family of switches is available in both electronic and electro-mechanical versions and incorporate such features as variable intermittent speeds, steady low and high speeds, a push-to-wash cycle and can be used with permanent magnet electric wiper motors with or without dynamic parking. In addition, Cole Hersee windshield wiper switches can operate systems with on and two motors and are available with a wide variety of terminations to fit any wire harness.

BATTERY RELATED PRODUCTS

Cole Hersee batter selector switches energize either or both of two batteries. Master disconnect switches prevent tampering or theft when equipment is unattended. battery isolators prevent the battery with the higher charge from draining into the battery with the lower charge. Battery-related accessories include remote battery jumper terminal, feed through studs lockout lever kits and face plates.

BATTERY SELECTOR SWITCHES: vaporproof, dustproof, waterproof and corrosion resistant

For the use on boats, ambulances, fire apparatus and many other types of equipment. Designed for electrical systems up to 36v (dc) utilizing more than one battery. Electrical rating at 310 AMPS continuous and 500 AMPS intermittent at 12 volts. They conform to U.S.C.G safety standard, section 183.410 for ignition protection. Case knob and insulator are molded with high temperature and fracture resistant plastic. Choose from 8 (eight) models offering optional features including key lock in the off position, alternator field disconnect circuit and pilot lights to show batteries in use.

BATTERY ISOLATORS:

Designed for use in recreational, automotive, marine and industrial vehicles and equipment utilizing dual battery systems. Cole Hersee Battery Isolator Guards isolate each battery to prevent discharging of current from the higher charged battery to the lower charged one. They also permit the simultaneous charging of two batteries from a single power source ( alternator or generator). Featuring solid state circuitry for trouble-free operation. the units are constructed of rugged, corrosion resistant materials, with an aluminum hear sing housing for long life and dependability . the line consists of 10 models ranging from 42-250 amps.
